{"id":47641,"date":"2019-11-28T17:39:36","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T17:39:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/?p=47641"},"modified":"2020-05-27T03:06:55","modified_gmt":"2020-05-27T03:06:55","slug":"retroarch-manual-content-scanning-coming-very-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/index.php\/retroarch-manual-content-scanning-coming-very-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"RetroArch &#8211; Manual content scanning coming very soon!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/retroarch-scan-1024x562.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"412\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-47642\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/retroarch-scan-1024x562.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/retroarch-scan-300x165.png 300w, https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/retroarch-scan-768x422.png 768w, https:\/\/www.libretro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/retroarch-scan.png 1417w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the most requested features for RetroArch, manual content scanning, will finally be added!<br \/>\nHow it will work compared to the current database-based scanning:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You select a content directory<\/li>\n<li>You specify a &#8216;system name&#8217; to be used as the playlist &#038; database names, with the option of automatically using the content directory name, or a custom string (or any standard database name)<\/li>\n<li>You optionally specify a default core for the resultant playlist (if selected, content will be filtered by supported extensions)<\/li>\n<li>You can optionally specify a manual list of file extensions to include (so if you have a folder with bin\/cue files, you can just enter &#8216;cue&#8217;, and skip the bins)<\/li>\n<li>You can either scan content to a new playlist, or just add missing content to an existing playlist (i.e. so you can use it to pick up &#8216;leftovers&#8217; if you did a normal scan and have items that didn&#8217;t match the database)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In essence, this is kinda like the Qt playlist builder thing, but it works everywhere, and all platforms<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s purely file based &#8211; doesn&#8217;t scan the databases &#8211; so users will get playlists containing all their ROMs. This has always been the biggest complaint about RetroArch &#8211; i.e. &#8220;I scanned my games and stuff is missing &#8211; what can I do?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This and more coming up in RetroArch 1.8.2!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most requested features for RetroArch, manual content scanning, will finally be added!
